How-do-you-do!

I'thousand your Independent Counselor for today. Permit's figure this out and come up with a solution.

Yous need to make sure the Windows x pen drive you have is bootable, non just the ISO saved to it.

In one case you confirm it'south a bootable device, you need to boot the PC from the pen drive and beginning the installation to your SSD from at that place. Kindly check your PC/motherboard manufacturer for the steps to change boot settings.

Promise this helps.

How-do-you-do,

In that location is a very big potential issue doing what you describe.. That is that when installing Windows when there is another HDD attached, that the installation can get intermixed between the two drives..

The merely safe fashion to do what you describe is to unhook all drives that are in the computer being used to exercise the installation..

Because you are installing Windows on a different machine than what it will be run on, you can expect that your beginning kicking upwards in the repaired car may do some blazon of unusual updating\configuring.. I have done this a couple of times, just do not think the exact details..

Also... Be sure the 2 machines are both using the same blazon of Bios.. If 1 is UEFI and the other is Legacy, what you lot are attempting volition fail..

How would I do this? Is there a mode to bank check without having to boot into the bios?

I would like to get a second stance on this post, also. I notice it difficult to believe the windows installer would have such a grave error, but then again, this is microsoft I guess.

Howdy,

One way to tell is to decide if the Kick Bulldoze has a "EFI" partition.. Yous could come across this in Disk Direction..

The presence of a "EFI" partitioning indicates that the machine is using UEFI Bios.. Legacy does not use this, and as a result, are not interchangable....

Some other way to tell is when the auto boots.. A Legacy motorcar volition show the manufacturer'south screen, so a Windows Logo with spinning dots.. A UEFI machine will non testify the Windows Logo... Information technology volition show the Manufacturer'southward screen upward until the point you would log-in or reach the desktop..

The drive with Windows is too configured differently.. The older "Legacy" machines are "Initialized" as a "MBR" blazon bulldoze.. The "UEFI" machines are "Initialized" as a "GPT (GUID)" bulldoze.. They are both formatted NTFS.. These are too non interchangable..

How the installation works is also determined by the way the Installation Media is created and\or selected..

It is sometimes necessary to specifically select a "UEFI Boot Device" in Kick Options at the first screen y'all see.. Where you would enter Bios..

Things really got screwed up and dislocated with the introduction of UEFI Bios machines and the required installation methods..

BTW... I am non 100% sure you would be able to install to a USB drive.. At one fourth dimension that was possible, only I am not so sure now.. I haven't actually tried that lately..

Hi,

A correction from my previous post I just noticed in this phrase...

They are both formatted NTFS.. These are also not interchangable..

It previously stated "FAT32"..

Sorry for the wait. Unfortunately, the figurer I was going to use for the installation is Legacy, not UEFI, whereas my normal computer is UEFI. And then as i poster already said, what I wanted to try doing wouldn't piece of work. It seems my idea ultimately amounted to nothing. I suppose I'll just accept to wait for my computer to come back. Thank you all for helping, regardless.
